General Details

The HTRC 16A Smart Battery Charger is a high-power automatic charger designed for a wide range of 12V and 24V automotive, motorcycle and deep-cycle batteries. With automatic voltage detection, the charger selects an appropriate charging current based on the connected battery.

Supporting both 12V and 24V systems, it can deliver up to 16A at 12V and up to 10A at 24V, with a maximum input power of 200W.

The charger is compatible with a broad selection of battery technologies, including AGM, GEL, SLA, WET, EFB, deep-cycle, calcium, lithium and LiFePO4 batteries.

Its wide 100–240V AC input also makes it suitable for use with different mains voltage systems.

Intelligent Charging

The charger automatically identifies whether the connected battery is a 12V or 24V system and selects the appropriate charging parameters.

When a battery has a particularly low voltage, the charger can automatically increase the charging current within its specified limits. For example, the manufacturer states that a 12V battery below approximately 11V may be charged at the maximum available current.

This automatic approach is designed to provide controlled charging while helping prevent inappropriate charging settings.

Lithium and LiFePO4 Support

The HTRC charger supports lithium and LiFePO4 batteries, in addition to conventional lead-acid battery types.

The manufacturer notes that after a LiFePO4 battery reaches full charge, the charger may reduce its output by approximately 1V as part of its automatic charging behaviour. This is described by the manufacturer as normal operation.
