General Details

The KINGBOLEN ECT600 is a professional handheld automotive electrical system tester combining multiple diagnostic and circuit-testing functions in a single device.

Designed for testing 0–80V vehicle electrical systems, the ECT600 combines a digital multimeter, digital oscilloscope, automotive circuit tester, fuel injector tester, component activation tester and battery tester.

A 2.4-inch high-resolution TFT colour display provides clear visibility of test values, waveforms and diagnostic results. The unit also incorporates protection against incorrect and reverse connections, excessive input voltage and excessive load current.

The ECT600 is designed for professional automotive electrical diagnostics and circuit testing, providing a versatile solution for technicians working across a wide range of vehicle electrical systems.

Performance

Voltage Test: Measures DC voltage and displays current, maximum and minimum values, frequency and duty cycle.
Voltage Test Range: 0–80VDC
Resistance Test: Measures circuit resistance and displays the measured resistance value.
Diode Test: Tests diode voltage characteristics.

Voltage Test

The voltage test measures electrical signals through the probe and displays the current measurement alongside maximum and minimum recorded values.

The display can also provide:

• Minimum voltage
• Frequency
• Duty cycle

The voltage measurement range automatically adjusts during testing, with signals up to 100V supported according to the manufacturer's specifications.

The probe operates as an input device during voltage testing and does not output pulse signals, helping prevent interference with the circuit being measured.

Resistance Test

The resistance function measures resistance between two points in a circuit.

Important: The power to the circuit being tested should be switched off before performing a resistance measurement.

If the measured resistance exceeds the meter's range, the display shows "OL".

Diode Test

The diode test measures the electrical characteristics of a diode using the probe and auxiliary ground connection.

Continuity Test

The continuity function checks whether a circuit provides a conductive path between two points.

The device provides both audible and visual indications:

• Open circuit: resistance above the specified threshold and no continuous buzzer
• Conductive circuit: resistance below the specified threshold with continuous buzzer and red LED indication

The tester can also identify positive and negative voltage signals and display the detected polarity.

Frequency Test

The frequency function measures electrical signal frequency and duty cycle.

The tester supports a frequency measurement range of 5Hz–20kHz, making it suitable for analysing a variety of automotive electrical signals.

Oscilloscope Mode

The ECT600 includes a digital oscilloscope function for viewing electrical signal waveforms.

The display provides information including:

• Signal waveform
• Voltage scale
• Time scale
• Maximum value
• Minimum value

The waveform can be paused using the lock function, allowing the technician to examine a captured signal.

The oscilloscope has a maximum sampling rate of 1MHz and a maximum monitoring frequency of 20kHz.

The manufacturer provides CAN signal examples where a signal around 3.5V maximum and 2.5V minimum may indicate CAN-H, while approximately 2.5V maximum and 1.5V minimum may indicate CAN-L.

Fuel Injector Tester

The ECT600 can output controlled pulse signals to fuel injectors to help assess injector operation.

The tester can be used to investigate conditions such as:

• Injector operation
• Sticking
• Leakage
• Injection performance
• Possible injector failure

The device provides both preset and custom injector testing modes.

Preset Mode

Four preset signal modes are available:

Mode 1: High-level output for 250ms
Mode 2: 1.4-second output with 7ms high level and 20ms low level
Mode 3: 1.4-second output with 4ms high level and 10ms low level
Mode 4: 4ms high level and 10ms low level pulse output

The maximum allowable current can also be configured to provide additional protection during testing.

Custom Mode

Custom mode allows the user to adjust injector signal characteristics, including:

• Frequency
• Pulse width
• Maximum allowable current
• Start and pause functions

Adjusting the pulse width and frequency can help technicians observe injector response and investigate potential sticking, leakage or electrical failure.

Signal Simulation

The ECT600 can collect injector signals from a vehicle and subsequently reproduce the collected signal for off-vehicle testing.

The signal collection process requires the vehicle engine to be running so that an injector signal is available.

Once successfully collected, the signal can be sent through the tester for further testing.

Important: The manufacturer recommends conducting injector testing in an appropriate environment and using an injector cleaning machine where possible. When using non-professional equipment, individual injector tests should not exceed 5 seconds to help avoid potential injector damage.

Component Activation

The component activation function allows controlled electrical activation of supported vehicle components.

Applications can include:

• Other suitable onboard electrical components

The tester provides several activation modes:

PULSE Mode: Provides power while the activation button is held.
MOMENT Mode: Supplies power while the button is pressed.
LATCH Mode: Provides a maintained power output according to the selected operation.
SET Mode: Allows the overload-current threshold to be adjusted from 0.1A–8A.

The tester monitors voltage and current during activation and can automatically stop the power output if the configured current limit is exceeded.

Sensor Voltage Simulation

The ECT600 can simulate sensor voltage signals up to 5V.

The user can adjust the required voltage and output the selected signal for suitable sensor-related testing applications.

Battery Testing

The ECT600 incorporates battery testing functions for compatible vehicle batteries.

The battery test can provide:

• Battery State of Health (SOH)
• Battery State of Charge (SOC)
• Battery reference value testing
• Battery voltage waveform monitoring

The battery test requires the engine to be switched off during the initial battery condition test to help ensure accurate results.

The tester allows the user to select the appropriate battery type and enter the reference standard marked on the battery before testing.

Battery Waveform Monitoring

The waveform monitoring function records the battery's maximum and minimum voltage over a selected monitoring period.

The waveform can be locked on screen for easier analysis and comparison.

Starting Test

The starting test monitors the vehicle battery and electrical system during engine starting.

The vehicle should be started according to the device's on-screen instructions to obtain the starting load test results.

Charging Test

The charging test is designed to assess the vehicle's charging system while the engine is running.

This can help technicians investigate charging-system performance and identify abnormal voltage behaviour.

Load Test
